In February 2002 our sponsoring dealer, Austin Harley-Davidson /Buell finalized their plans to start a new Chapter of the Harley Owners Group.  South Austin Texas Chapter, submitted by Mr. Rene Rosales, was the name chosen from the many entries submitted by Harley Davidson riders all around the Hill Country area.  With a sponsor, officers and members in place, the National Harley Owners Group assigned the number "5000" to this chapter.

 

The new chapter needed a newsletter and the first edition of "Hog Wash" rolled out on March 19, 2002 and included a list of the first officers, rides, events and pictures.

 

Well, we grew bigger and better...Cowboy Harley-Davidson of Austin became our new sponsor in April 2007. The National Harley Owners Group assigned us a new chapter number of "2085". Cowboy Harley-Davidson was sold to new owners in the summer of 2022 and our chapter number was changed to "5299".
